’80s Icon Howard Jones Set For Spring & Summer Dates

’80s icon Howard Jones is heading back on tour next month, and currently has 25 U.S. dates on the books between March and July. Jones, who’ll squeeze a string of UK dates between the two North American legs, kicks things off on March 21st at Salt Lake City, Utah’s Eccles Theater, and winds the trek down on July 13th at Las Vegas’ Cannery Casino Hotel — which, coincidentally, falls on the 34th anniversary of Jones’ solo performance at Live Aid at London’s Wembley Stadium.

Howard Jones, who was a synth pop pioneer, will always be best known for his batch of MTV-favorite hit singles from the ’80s, including “No One Is To Blame” (#4), “Things Can Only Get Better” (#5), “What Is Love” (#33), “Life In One Day” (#19), and “Everlasting Love” (#12), among others.

Jones is no stranger to massive crowds — having been among the performers at the historic 1985 Live Aid concerts. He told us today, he’s far more comfortable playing club dates and theaters: [“There is more contact because with the arenas they can’t get to you unless you go out. And if you go out into the. . .  Y’know, I did it a few times and it, sort of, caused a riot and that’s not good for the other people that are playing. So in the club tours it’s much easier to see people.”] SOUNDCUE (:15 OC: . . . to see people)
