Edinburgh police say game cancellation grew from practice dispute

Edinburgh police say a decision was made to cancel last week’s homecoming football game after a criminal harassment investigation began between two football players.

Edinburgh Police Chief Doyne Little Jr. said yesterday that police were called to the high school on Thursday about the reported harassment. He said that incident started during football practice with an argument between two players. He said a criminal investigation is underway and information will be forwarded to the Johnson County Prosecutor’s office to determine whether a crime has been committed.

Little said the decision to cancel the game and associated activities was made by the Edinburgh School Corporation.

The school made the announcement to cancel the game against Milan Friday afternoon.
