Visitors Center to celebrate 30 years on Thursday

The Columbus Area Visitors Center will be celebrating its 30th anniversary with an event this week.

The center at Fifth and Franklin streets opened in 1995, says Erin Hawkins, spokeswoman for the center.

Hawkins said that the dedication ceremony will be held on the same spot on Thursday.

The Dale Chihuly created Yellow Neon Chandelier glass sculpture was lit for the first time at that event. Historic video of the 1995 event will be screened Thursday.

Events will start at 5 p.m. with a reception, a plaque unveiling at 5:30 p.m. and light refreshments.

The event is free and you are invited to attend.
