Hope Man In Custody After Warrant Service Ends with CPD Swat Deployed
A Hope, Indiana Man is in Jail after a warrant service turned into a SWAT team Callout. The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation into Chad Houchins, who was wanted on a felony warrant. The warrant stemmed from a petition to revoke pretrial release on several different charges including dealing and possession of meth, unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, and unlawful possession of a syringe. During their investigation, deputies with the BCSO determined that Houchins had tampered with his electronic monitoring device by removing his house arrest bracelet, resulting in another warrant being issues for Houchins arrest on October 17th, for escape.
Houchins was located at a residence in the 500 block of South St in Hope and a search warrant was granted for investigators.
The CPD SWAT team and a join team made up of officers from the Columbus Police Department were called to the scene where Houchins was located hiding in a vehicle on the property.
Houchins was arrested and taken into custody to the Bartholomew County Jail where he remains with no bond.
