Driver accused of drunk driving, hit and run in North Vernon

A driver in North Vernon is being accused of being drunk and leaving the scene after a crash at a fast food restaurant last week.

According to the North Vernon Police Department, they were called to the scene of a crash at about 7:20 p.m. Thursday night near the Taco Bell. The driver had already left the scene but police identified the vehicle involved and made contact with the suspected driver,

. Police say Sidwell showed signs of impairment but he refused field sobriety tests. He was taken into custody and had his blood drawn, before being taken to the Jennings County Jail.

He is facing preliminary charges including operating a vehicle while intoxicated, operating a vehicle while intoxicated with endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident.
