Warming centers opening for weekend Arctic temps

With an arctic blast of cold weather expected to come through our area this weekend, local emergency officials are announcing several locations around Bartholomew County and Columbus you can go to get warm.

In Columbus, you can stop by the Engagement Center at 1075 Second Street Sunday or Monday from 8 to 5. The Brighter Days Shelter will be open from 6 Saturday evening to 8 Sunday morning and again from 5 Sunday afternoon to 8 Monday morning. The Brighter Days Shelter is at 421 S. Mapleton Street.

Bartholomew County public library branches will be open and available to get warm Saturday and Monday. The main library branch on Fifth Street in Columbus will be open from 9 to 6 on Saturday and from 9 to 8 on Monday. The Hope Branch on the Hope Town Square will be open from 10 to 5 Saturday and from 10 to 6 on Monday.
