Jennings schools to see new county police dog

Jennings County has a new police dog team.

The Jennings County Sheriff’s Department is introducing the team of school resource officer Tyler Campbell and his canine partner Hurley. According to the department, the two recently finished the training program of the Redemption Ranch K9 Rescue.

Hurley was rescued from the Putnam County Human Society and has been trained as a narcotics detection and tracking dog. Hurley is also expected to be further trained as a certified therapy dog.

The sheriff’s department says that Redemption Ranch K9 Rescue covered the cost of all training as well as equipment and future veterinary expenses. The Plainfield based non profit rescues shelter dogs and trains them to be canine officers, offered for free to police agencies.
