Speed limit to drop on Jennings County highway

Starting tomorrow, the speed limit will be reduced on part of State Road 7/State Road 3 in Jennings County from 40 mph to 30 mph.

According to INDOT, the speed limit change will start just north of Smith Street and end just north of Ripley Street, between Vernon and North Vernon. Officials say that the change is meant to create consistency and improve safety. The posted speed limits in both communities is already 30 mph. They also expect the change to improve safety in the area.
