Red Cross urges blood donations during busy holiday season

With record numbers of people traveling for the holidays, the Indiana branch of the American Red Cross is urging you to donate blood for those who may need it this holiday season.

According to the agency, types O, A negative and B negative blood donors are especially needed now.

With the holidays on hand, travel plans in place and the possibility of winter weather ahead, the Red Cross urges you to make time to donate blood because donations can dip during this busy time of year.

Everyone who donates before January 4th will receive a long-sleeve Red Cross T-shirt as a gift. And those who donate between January 1st and 25th will be entered for a chance to win a trip to Super Bowl 60.

There are several upcoming chance to donate blood including from noon to 5 p.m. today at St. Ambrose Church in Seymour, from noon to 5 on p.m. December 29th at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Columbus and from 1 to 5 p.m. on December 30th at the District 6 Event space on West County Road 200S in Bartholomew County.

You can schedule an appointment to give through the Red Cross Blood Donor App, by visiting RedCrossBlood.org or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
