Extreme cold and heavy snow expected in winter storm

An arctic blast of weather is headed across the country and you can expect bitter cold, heavy snow and dangerous roads this weekend.

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a cold weather advisory that goes in effect at 7 tonight and a winter storm warning from noon Saturday to 7 Sunday evening.

Low temperatures tonight will dip into the teens, but the wind is going to make that feel like 11 below zero, forecasters say. Snow is expected to start this evening turning heavy by Saturday afternoon. Forecasters say we can expect 7 to 10 inches with the heaviest snow fall Saturday night.

The cold weather advisory expires at 7 p.m. Saturday evening.
