Retired Bartholomew County Judge Curry dies at 92

Retired Bartholomew County Judge Norm Curry has died. He passed away Sunday at his home in Freetown at the age of 92.

He was born on Nov. 15th 1933 and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He began working for Cummins Engine Company in 1961 after graduating from Butler University. At the age of 35, Curry received a scholarship from Cummins to attend law school and graduated from Miami School of Law in Coral Gables, Florida.

He left Cummins in 1975 to serve as Deputy Indiana Attorney General. He was practicing law in Columbus in 1987, when Gov. Orr appointed Curry as judge of Bartholomew County Court 2 and he served in that role until 1999. He became a senior judge the day after he left the Bartholomew County bench and served in that role until 2013 when he retired at the age of 80.

Curry was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, his first wife Eleanore in 1968, second wife Carolyn in 2012 and his son Tim in 1984. He is survived by his daughter Kimberly Dillingham and son James Curry, along with two granddaughters, six great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

Jewell-Rittman Funeral Service & Crematory is in charge of arrangements and a private inurnment will be held at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.
