Two taken to hospital after German Township home fire

Firefighters say that two people were taken to the hospital after a home fire in northwestern Bartholomew County Sunday.

According to German Township Volunteer Fire Department and Edinburgh Fire Department, the incident began at just before 3 p.m. Sunday, when firefighters were called to a home in the 1800 block of West County Road 650N. Edinburgh firefighters found heavy smoke and entered the residence for an aggressive attack, where they rescued one person from inside.

One victim was taken to the hospital by Columbus Regional Health ambulance, while another was taken to the hospital by private vehicle.

Also assisting at the scene were Clifford, Hope, Columbus Township, Harrison Township and Clay Township volunteer fire departments.

The cause of fire is under investigation.
