Columbus woman to serve 6 years for crash while intoxicated

A Columbus woman has been sentenced to six years in prison after a 2024 accident in Bartholomew County while driving under the influence.

According to the Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s Office, 46-year-old Katherine Moore of Columbus was arrested in the incident in April of 2024 when a vehicle Moore was driving struck and injured a person. The victim was taken to Columbus Regional Health for treatment of his injuries.

An investigation by Bartholomew County deputies also found that Moore had a child in the vehicle with her at the time of the accident. She was booked into the Bartholomew County Jail on April 27th of 2024 on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, operating a vehicle while intoxicated with endangerment, neglect of a dependent and leaving the scene of a crash with injuries.

Moore pleaded guilty to felony charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury and neglect of a dependent.

Last week, Bartholomew Superior Court 2 Judge Jon Rohde sentenced her to six years to be served in the Indiana Department of Correction. That is the top penalty tier for a Level 5 felony.
