Speaker to reveal history of music in Columbus Friday

A speaker will be exploring the history of music in Columbus during a talk Friday night organized by the Bartholomew County Historical Society.

Author Byron James Cartwright will lead the discussion based on his book, “Amazing Sounds in a Midwestern Town: Columbus, Indiana: Small City with a Big Musical Heritage.” Titled “Roots and Rabbit Holes: A History of Music in Columbus” the lecture will focus on influential but little known musical leaders in the community.

The talk is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at the COlumbus Indiana Philharmonic’s Helen Haddad Hall. That is at 315 Franklin Street.

The speech is free and it is the first presentation this year as part of the Evelyn Seward Speaker Series and is funded by the Seward endowment.
