NAACP to hold Freedom Fund dinner Saturday

The Columbus and Bartholomew County branch of the NAACP will be holding its largest annual fundraiser this weekend.

The local organization will be holding its Freedom Fund dinner, gala and dance on Saturday featuring keynote speaker Maureen Duncan. She is a NAACP national delegate and has worked for more than 20 years to educate young people and organizations about how to make positive changes in their communities.

This year’s theme is “Unstoppable Voices, Undeniable Dreams.” Community awards will be given in the categories of Outstanding Citizen, Outstanding Business, Outstanding Student Athlete, Outstanding Student and Distinguished Service Award. An auction featuring food items, gift baskets and more will be new this year.

The gala will be held from 6 to 11 on Saturday at Mill Race Center. Tickets are $65 for individuals, $40 for students or $800 for a table. Funds raised are used for scholarship funds and youth-oriented programming.
