IU Columbus to use fieldhouse as soccer home turf

IU Columbus will be using the Circle K Fieldhouse at Nexus Park as the home for its Crimson Pride men’s and women’s soccer teams.

The school is announcing that the new partnership will mean the team’s practices and games will take place at the city-owned facility on 25th Street. IU Columbus will be one of the few NAIA programs with an indoor home venue for soccer.

Kevin Nolan, IU Columbus Director of Soccer and head coach for both teams, said the facility is one of the best in the conference and the region, calling it an “elite, professional indoor facility.” The facility includes new turf, a sound system, close-to-the-field seating, locker rooms and concessions.

In addition to having most home games at Nexus Park, IU Columbus will be hosting the women’s soccer Crimson Cup tournament for all IU regional campuses on Saturday.

Brady Buckley Associate Director of Sports for Columbus Parks and Recreation said the partnership is what the fieldhouse was designed for and that it will not only support sports tourism, but the local community and community programs.

IU Columbus is also partnering with Mother Bear’s Pizza for home team and visiting team meals.
