Heritage Heights residents could see some smoke from utility work

Driftwood Utilities customers in the Heritage Heights subdivision could see some smoke in the area starting today as crews test the sanitary sewer system.

According to the utility, you could see smoke coming from vent pipes, the ground or other locations during the testing. The goal of the tests is to find sources of flow entering the sanitary sewer system, which would affect the overall system performance.

Organizers say that the smoke is non-toxic, non-staining, and safe. It is used as an effective method to locate issues within the system.

Door tags are being distributed to notify residents in advance of the work.

The utility and emergency officials want residents to be aware of the testing and to understand that the presence of smoke is normal and not a cause for concern.
