Seymour man found guilty in business burglary, thefts

A Seymour man has been found guilty of stealing tools, copper wiring and other items from a business.

According to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office, a jury found Michael S. Miller guilty this week of charges including burglary and theft after a two day trial that ended Wednesday in Jackson Circuit Court.

Miller was accused of taking part in a robbery of the Home Products International business on Chestnut Street in October of 2024. At the time the loss was estimated at more than $9,000. Prosecutors say that evidence from surveillance cameras, witness interviews and other investigative techniques identified Miller as a suspect in the case.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy Prosecutor Emily Shoemaker and Deputy Prosecutor Ethan Sparks. The prosecutors praised Seymour Police Department for the hard work and dedication that contributed to the investigation and prosecution.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 16th.
