Reports: Elderly man kidnapped, forced to bank to withdraw money

A man is facing charges after allegedly kidnapping an elderly man and forcing him to try to withdraw money from a bank in Columbus.

In a story first reported by Fox 59 News in Indianapolis, Columbus officers were called to Old National Bank on 25th Street at 11:27 a.m. in the morning on May 30th about a victim who had been held at gunpoint in an SUV, but managed to escape into the bank.

Citing court documents, the report said that a man came to the home of the 72-year-old victim, where he was kidnapped, forced to drive to the bank and then made to attempt to withdraw $15,000 thousand dollars.

Police identified the vehicle, which led them to serve a search warrant in the 200 block of North Ross Street, where they found the vehicle, a gun and ammunition.

47-year-old Brian Bland of Columbus was booked into the Bartholomew County Jail on May 31st on preliminary felony charges of kidnapping, criminal confinement, battery with a deadly weapon and intimidation with a deadly weapon.
