A Seymour man is heading to prison for 12 years after pleading guilty to child molesting.

According to the Jackson County prosecutor’s office, Robert D. Baker was sentenced last week by Jackson Circuit Court Judge Richard W. Poynter to the maximum sentence for a Level 4 felony.

Baker was arrested in May of 2024 when he was 51 on charges of child molesting and sodomy.

Prosecuting Attorney Lynsey N. Fleetwood said “This sentence reflects the seriousness of Baker’s conduct and sends a clear message that the sexual abuse of children will not be tolerated in Jackson County. Protecting children and seeking justice for victims will always be a top priority for the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office.”
