KFC is teaming up with a 3D bio-printing firm in Russia to develop chicken nuggets in a lab.
The product would use chicken cells and plant material to re-create the taste and texture of typical poultry meat.
Lab-produced meats often contain fewer additives than farm-raised meat, while also avoiding inhumane farming practices and creating fewer greenhouse gases.
KFC says a final product should be ready this fall, but there’s no word yet on when the product may hit U.S. markets.
