Monster Pumpkin Crowned ‘Largest Grown in North America’

A horticulture teacher from Minnesota has won the World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off after growing a monstrous 2,350-pound gourd! This type of gigantic pumpkin, with seeds the size of peach pits, can reportedly gain as much as 50 pounds per day!

This pumpkin is now considered “the largest grown in North America”, but was 274-pounds shy of being crowned “the largest grown in the world.”

All that TLC the teacher gave this pumpkin paid off!  The contest is paying him $7 for every pound of pumpkin.  That’s $16,450!

Another reason to call this gourd “the great pumpkin”?  The grower hails from Anoka, Minnesota; the self-dubbed Halloween capital of the world.
