Vacant House Fire in Columbus

Columbus emergency personnel responded to a vacant house fire on 10th Street early on Friday morning.

The Columbus Fire Department was called to 1207 10th St., near Wilson Street, for a residential blaze. When firefighters arrived they reported a working fire with flames visible.

Crews forcibly entered the home, where a primary search revealed it was vacant.

CFD declared the fire under control about 20 minutes after arrival.

The property owner told firefighters the home had been vacant for five years and did not have utility services.

The loss estimate was pegged at $50,000.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
