Eric Clapton Posts ‘Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door’ Video With Phil Collins

Eric Clapton has just posted a new teaser for his upcoming The Definite 24 Nights live collection, coming on June 23rd. The video features Clapton — along with special guest Phil Coillins on hi-hat — running through his legendary remake of Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ On Heaven’ s Door.”

The Definite 24 Nights expanded set expands Clapton’s classic 1991 live album with several hours of unreleased performances from “Slowhand’s” record-setting residency at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The package will be available in six-CD/three-Blu-ray and eight-LP/three-Blu-ray configurations. Both versions come with three Blu-ray discs for the video content, a hardbound book, and an individually numbered lithograph featuring a photograph of Clapton by Carl Studna.

In addition to Phil Collins, special guests include Johnnie Johnson, Jimmie Vaughan, Robert Cray, Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, Steve Ferrone, Ray Cooper, Jerry Portnoy — and then core of his band — Chuck Leavell and Greg Phillinganes on keyboards and bassist Nathan East.

Nathan East has recorded and toured with Clapton off and on since “Slowhand’s” 1986 August album. East describes his rapport with Clapton: “There’s a lot of laughing that goes on and we play foosball. We’re at each other’s throat constantly on some level! (Laughs) But it’s all a joy, and we just have a good time working together and he’s just been a dear, dear friend on top of that.”
