Seymour police arrest convicted felon for firearm possession

A Jackson County man is under arrest, accused of being a violent felon possessing a handgun.

According to the Seymour Police Department, officers were called to a home on initial reports of an argument that led to a man displaying a gun while children were present on the west side of the city. The investigation showed that there had not been an argument, but police did find a gun at the home. 23-year-old Shannon L. Barger was at the home and he had previously been convicted of felony criminal confinement in an incident in 2020.

He was arrested for possessing the weapon and taken to the Jackson County Jail.
