Trick or Treating hours announced for area communities

Local communities are announcing the hours for trick or treating and related events.

Bartholomew County first responders will be having a trunk or treat event on Saturday October 25th from 6 to 8 p.m. That will be at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds and fire trucks and other emergency vehicles will be on display.

Edinburgh Parks and Recreation will be hosting a Halloween Fest Trick or Treat on Friday, October 24th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Edinburgh High School Gymnasium. You should plan to enter off of the Campbell Street Entrance.

In Columbus and Bartholomew County, trick-or-treating hours will be from 5:30-8:00 pm on Friday, October 31st. In Hope and Edinburgh, trick or treating will be from 6 to 8 p.m. In Edinburgh, East Main Cross Street will be closed from 5 to 8 p.m. for the safety of trick-or-treaters.

In Seymour, trick or treating will go from 6 to 9 p.m. and in Johnson County, trick or treating hours will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Sweet Street, an alternative to trick-or-treating, in North Vernon is from 5:30 p.m. to 7: 30 p.m. on Madison Avenue downtown on October 31st. You can also go trick-or-treating door to door in North Vernon from 5 to 8 p.m.

If you want to share treats with the children, you should leave your porch lights on.

Authorities are urging all trick-or-treaters to be safe this Halloween.
