Sheriff recognizes staff and deputies for service

Bartholomew County Sheriff Chris Lane recognized employees with an awards ceremony last week. This was the first recognition ceremony for the department.

Among those recognized were three deputies:

Deputy JD Myers received an exceptional service award. The sheriff cited traffic stops that resulted in the discovery and seizure of a notable amount of narcotics.

Lane also recognized Detective Jarod Aspenson and Deputy Dylan Prather with exceptional service awards. He said they worked to improve the hiring process in the Sheriff’s Office and created the recognition ceremony itself.

Lane recognized  23 employees with at least 5 years of service, 14 with at least 10 years, 9 employees with at least 15 years and 16 employees with at least 20 years of service.

Several employees have at least 30 years of service, including:

• Major John Martoccia 31 years of service
• Captain T.A. Smith 43 years of service
• Correctional Officer Jeff Tindell 38 years of service,
• Administrative Assistant Jeanette Down 41 years of service
• Major Dana Vogt with 34 years of service.
