Columbus crews running behind on leaf pickups

Columbus officials say the city is running slightly behind on loose leaf pickup, is working to catch up and is thanking residents for their patience.

According to the Department of Public Works, you should move your loose, unbagged leaves to the curb by 7 a.m. on the same day as your normal trash route. Leaves will not be collected if they are in bags.

Officials say that leaves should be piled in a row along the curb and away from obstructions such as mailboxes, signs, or vehicles. You should not put your leaves on the sidewalk nor put them in the street as they can clog storm drains and cause flooding in the roadway.

Leaf piles should be free of non-leaf debris such as sticks or branches, vines, rocks, trash, pumpkins, decorative grass trimmings, tarps or coverings.

The city is issuing daily updates on which routes are being picked up on a given day.
