Woman facing charge after Indianapolis Road crash

A Columbus woman is facing charges after a crash on Indianapolis Road Tuesday night seriously injured a passenger.

According to the Columbus Police Department, emergency workers were called to the scene of the two-vehicle crash at about 7:20 p.m. Tuesday night near Indianapolis Road and Kenholt Drive. The vehicles were both heavily damaged and two people at the scene were bloodied.

Police say that 23-year-old Vanessas Seyfried of Columbus was driving south on Indianapolis Road in an SUV when she tried to pass a vehicle, but collided with an oncoming pickup driven by a 57-year-old Nineveh woman. A passenger in Seyfried’s vehicle was injured and he was taken to Columbus Regional Health to be treated for a broken arm.

During the investigation, police say that they noticed the smell of alcohol on Seyfried’s breath and signs that she was driving impaired. She was arrested on a preliminary felony charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury.
