Flat Rock company chosen to construct new county storage building

Bartholomew County has chosen a construction company from Flat Rock to build a new storage building at the county 4-H fairgrounds with a cost of just under three quarters of a million dollars.

The bidding process was originally started in September, but no company submitted a bid. County officials said that several restrictive building requirements limited the number of companies interested in bidding. In November, the county commissioners removed those restrictions and put the project back out to bid.

The bids were opened last week and the only bidder was Larry Mohr Construction of Flat Rock with a bid of just over $740 thousand dollars. County Commissionerspointed out that original estimates were for a cost of more than $1 million for the project.

Commissioners President Carl Lienhoop said that Mohr is a very respected and reputable builder and commissioners awarded the bid on Monday. The construction will be paid for out of county income tax revenue.
