Alumni to recognize 1975 Columbus North team

The Columbus North High School Bull Dog Alumni Association will be recognizing the 50th anniversary of the 1975 boys basketball team that went to the state final four at an event Friday.

According to the association, the 1975 team is arguable the best team in Columbus North High School history. The starting lineup with David Welmer, Randy Goins, John Patchell, Steve Krakoski and Dan Miles won two games at Hinkle Field House before the finals at Market Square Arena.

During the half time of Friday’s game against Greensburg, team members, coaches, cheerleaders and student managers of the 1975 team will be honored with a short ceremony celebrating their accomplishments.

Varsity tipoff for Friday’s game at Columbus North’s Memorial Gym is at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening and alumni, family, friends and fans are invited to attend.
