Greenwood police dog to receive protective vest

The Greenwood Police Department’s police dog Zorro will receive a bulletproof and stab protecting vest courtesy of a not for profit group.

The not-for-profit Vested Interest in K9s group from Massachusetts provides the vests to dogs working in police and other agencies. The program is open to U.S. dogs at least 20 months old and actively employed and certified with law enforcement or related agencies.

According to the department, Zorro’s vest was sponsored by Justin Tetrick of Indianapolis, and will be embroidered with the sentiment “This gift of protection provided by the Tetrick’s.” Zorro’s vest should arrive in about 10 weeks.

The group has provided more than 6,300 vests to K9s in all 50 states. The organization accepts donations and $1,050 will sponsor one vest.
