Downtown event to feature women’s empowerment

Organizers say that Saturday’s Rise, Thrive and Connect event in downtown Columbus will be focused on women’s empowerment.

Organized by Women Rising of Bartholomew County, the event will include speakers, vendors, music, food and kids activities. There will be seminars on beating burnout, parenting with confidence, care giver challenges along with dance, women’s self defense and yoga workshops. There will be food from Stunna’s, Hickory Hills BBQ, Lemonade Bros and Grams Bakery.

Speakers will include Skye Nicholson and Claudia Thomas and emcees will be Grace Kestler, Beth Hughes and Stephanie Carmer.

The first 100 people will receive a swag bag. The event is sponsored by Bar Cons Federal Credit Union, The Heritage Fund of Bartholomew County and Webb’s Auto Center.

The event will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday in the 6th Street Art Alley parklet in Columbus.
