Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Cindy Frey has announce her retirement after 13 years heading the group.

Frey made the announcement yesterday that she will be stepping down after more than 40 years working in the community and economic development.

Frey led the chamber through several crisis including the COVID pandemic and the loss of the long-time headquarters due to the fire in the neighboring Irwin Block Building in December of 2022 and the move to the new headquarters building on Third Street.

During her tenure, the chamber’s assets doubled, its membership diversified and more than $3 million was invested into entrepreneurial efforts through the Columbus Area Chamber Foundation.

She has served on more than 20 boards and commissions in the community.

The chamber is beginning a national search for Frey’s replacement and has engaged executive search firm YGM.

Her final day will be June 26th.
