Filing period open for school board seats in Nov. election

The filing period is open for candidates who want to serve on Indiana school boards.

For the first time in Indiana, those candidates now have the option of choosing their party affiliation. Previously the school board races were non-partisan.

This November’s election will include the District 1, 2, 4 and 6 seats on the Bartholomew Consolidated School Board, and the Flatrock, Hawcreek and at-large seats on the Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Board,

So far, three candidates have filed to run in Bartholomew County. Those include:

• Barbara Jones – BCSC School Board District 2 – Republican
• Katherine (Katy) Bush – BCSC School Board District 1 – Republican
• Dale Nowlin – BCSC School Board District 4 – No Affiliation

The deadline to apply to run is noon on June 18th.
