City of Columbus Installs Commemorative Local Revolutionary War Hero Banners Downtown
The City of Columbus has installed 21 commemorative banners along Washington Street in downtown Columbus honoring Revolutionary War soldiers buried in Bartholomew County. The banners are part of Celebrate 250, the city’s weeklong celebration of America’s 250th birthday that is taking place June 29th through July 4th. Each banner features the name of a Revolutionary War soldier who is laid at rest in Bartholomew County. Information and research for the banners were provided by the Joseph Hart Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Celebrate 250 features 6 days of family- friendly activities, and patriotic programming throughout Columbus leading up to Independence Day. The banners will remain in place throughout the celebration, celebrating the local veterans who played a role in securing our nation’s independence.
