In the Market for a New Job??

If you’re looking for a good-paying job in the Midwest, maybe it’s time to revisit the foodservice industry. I don’t know about you but my first official job was at a hometown restaurant called Catfish Kitchen. I worked in the kitchen and made ( you guessed it) catfish. It was a good learning experience and I made minimum wage from graduation until I headed off to college. After that, I don’t think I ever seriously considered working in food again. I tackled retail and retail management for a while then got into broadcasting and never looked back. However, if I were job hunting now, you can bet my resume would show up at Taco Bell. The tex-mex giant recently announced that it would begin paying some manager $100,000 a year as opposed to the current rate of $50-80,000. This is mostly due to being priced out of better talent. Unemployment is at its lowest since 1969 and seems stuck at 3.5% which is great for workers and terrible for companies. When I worked at Nike for a few months in 2019 one of their biggest issues was securing quality employees at the pay rate they offered. If you show up to work consistently, want to work, and have skills that businesses can use, you can make out like a bandit in the current economy. Don’t worry though, if hard work and dedication isn’t your thing, this economy can work for you too. They’ve gotta fill the jobs somehow. Good luck with your hunt!
