5k Run-Walk Saturday to benefit Riley Hospital and local Kiwanis

The Columbus Meridian Kiwanis Club will be holding a running and walking event Saturday to benefit IU Riley Hospital for Children and local youth programs.

The fifth annual event benefits the hospital and programs including the Kiwanis Bring Up Grades and Books for Kids efforts.

Steve Bayer, an organizer for the run/walk, said that in previous years all of the proceeds went to Riley but now will also support the Kiwanis youth efforts.

Ivy Tech Community College Columbus Campus on Central Avenue will be the site for the events. A quarter‑mile Fun Run for children 6 and under will start at 8:15 a.m., followed by a 5K Run/Walk at 8:30 a.m. for youth and adults.

You can register Saturday morning at the school starting at 7:30 a.m. at the Ivy Tech entrance.

Registration will be $20 for elementary students ages 6–12, $12 for the 7 and under fun run and $30 for those 13 years old to adult.

There will also be goodie bags, prize drawings, and complimentary food and drinks.
