Bartholomew investigator to partner as FBI Task Force Officer on child cases

A Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department investigator has a new role coordinating child exploitation cases.

According to the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department, Detective William Kinman Jr. has been sworn in as an FBI Task Force Officer, focused on local efforts to combat crimes against children and online exploitation. Kinman will work in partnership with federal, state, and local agencies.

Sheriff Chris Lane released a statement saying the appointment “will strengthen our investigative capabilities and allow us to work even more effectively against those who prey on children.” The sheriff says the partnership will increase the agency’s ability to investigate cases, conduct digital forensic work, and collaborate with partner agencies throughout Indiana and across the country.

Kinman is a 23-year veteran of the sheriff’s department.

The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging parents and guardians to remain engaged in their children’s online activity and to continue conversations about internet safety and responsible technology use.
