Chance of severe weather this evening; Heavy rain in forecast

Forecasters say that we could be in for some severe weather later today.

The National Weather Service in Louisville says that southern Indiana is under a marginal risk of severe weather in an area roughly south of Bloomington including parts of Bartholomew, Brown and Jennings counties and all of Jackson County. The storm system could bring heavy rain, lightning and small hail with some strong to severe storms this evening.

We can expect up to an inch of rain today in our area.

Tornadoes are also possible but the main threat area for those is in far southwestern Indiana near Evansville.

The main timing of the storm front will be from 7 to midnight this evening.
