Columbus chosen among best places to live by news magazine

Columbus has been chosen by U.S. News and World Report as one of the best places to live in the U.S.

According to the news magazine website, Columbus came in at #92 in the 2025-26 rankings of the top 250 communities. It also ranked as #35 as one of the best place to retire.

The rankings are based on a number of factors, including household income, home values, rent costs, commute time and employment opportunities. According to the magazine statistics, the median household income in Columbus is $75,896, and the unemployment rate here is 5.04%.

The median home value is $262,533 and the median rent is $955. They say the average commute time here is 16 and a half minutes.

Five Indiana cities made the list, with Columbus the lowest ranked of the top cities. Carmel was top of the Indiana list and #2 nationally.
