Update: Seymour woman shot on Cottage Avenue

An 18-year-old Seymour woman was shot yesterday afternoon and an 18-year-old man was taken into custody by Columbus Police.

According to the police department, rescue workers were called to the 1900 block of Cottage Avenue at about 3:41 p.m. Wednesday on a reported shooting. They found the woman, a Seymour resident, and she was taken to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment. Police say she is in stable condition.

Police detained Skyler Vera of Columbus and a firearm was recovered. He is being accused of aggravated battery with deadly weapon.

The investigation is ongoing, but police say that the two knew each other and this was an isolated incident.

but police say that there is now sign of danger to the general public.
