Cummins announces generators to power Texas data center

Cummins is announcing that the company’s natural gas generators will be used to power a data center in Texas.

The Columbus-based engine manufacturer announced an agreement with Circe Energy yesterday that the generators will be the primary power source for Circe’s High Performance Computing data center in west Texas.

The company says the generators will be a prime power, microgrid power solution for the data center and will include Cummins HSK78 (C2000N6CD) and QSK60 (C1400N6) high-horsepower natural gas generator sets. The deliveries are schedule from later this year through 2030.

The microgrid is designed to address power grid constraints, improve reliability and enable fast-start response capabilities.

Susan Cleaver, Executive Director of Cummins Global Power Generation business said that Cummins natural gas power solutions will “close utility power gaps with dependable on-site generation for large, power-intensive facilities.”
