Cummins sees strong end to 2025, but still slips overall
Cummins is reporting a strong fourth quarter of 2025, but still falling just below 2024 when comparing year-over-year revenues and earnings.
The Columbus-based engine manufacturer made its quarterly and annual reports to shareholders yesterday with the company citing fourth quarter Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization of $1.2 billion compared to $1 billion in the last three months of 2024. Year over year, Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization were $5.4 billion in 2025 compared to $6.3 billion in 2024.
Fourth quarter revenues for 2025 were $8.5 billion, up 1 percent from $8.4 billion in 2024. Year over year, sales were $33.7 billion last year, down from $34.1 billion from 2024.
Highlights for the company included increasing sales from the distribution, power systems and the clean energy Accelera segments. Revenues in the engine segment and components segment were both down with decreases in North American sales, but increases overseas. The highest earning segments were distribution with $495 million and power systems with $418 million. Of all the business segments, only Accelera showed a loss in 2025, with $374 million lost, of which $218 million was charges related to the electrolyzer business.
Jennifer Rumsey, Chair and CEO of Cummins, said the company expects the company’s revenues to rebound in 2026 with growth of between 3 and 8 percent, based on higher demand from the North American on-highway truck market.
