Decatur deputies arrest man after online child pursuit

Decatur County deputies arrested a 68-year-old man this week after an investigation into child solicitation.

According to the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department, the arrest comes after a 10 month long investigation where the suspect, Robert D. Ogle, is accused of communicating through social media with a girl he believed to be between 14 and 16 years old. During the contacts he allegedly attempted to convince the child to engage in some form of sexual conduct.

He was arrested Tuesday on a felony charge of child solicitation and taken to the Decatur County Detention Center without incident.

Authorities say that the investigation is ongoing.
