Downtown Columbus traffic restrictions tonight for BCSC prom

Traffic will be tied up in downtown Columbus Saturday night as Bartholomew Consolidated School students take part in their prom at The Commons and the traditional prom parade downtown.

Organizers say that the prom will have a them of a Tale as Old As Time and it will be going on from 9 to midnight at The Commons. The prom is for students from Columbus North, Columbus East and CSA New Tech High Schools.

City officials are outlining the route for Saturday night’s prom parade, which will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Franklin Street and Lafayette Ave will be restricted to prom traffic only from Second to Third Streets during the parade. The staging area for the prom will be the county parking lot across from the jail with entrances off of Lafayette Avenue. Any parade entrant that needs to be set up should use the staging area.

Street legal parade entries will enter off of Third Street, then up Washington, west on Seventh Street, south on Jackson Street, then west on Fourth Street to a destaging area in the Hotel Indigo parking lot, or an exit onto Third Street for entrants that do not need to break down their parade ride.

Through traffic will be able to use the left two lanes of Third Street headed west and the right two lanes of Second Street heading east.
