Driver to serve three years after Johnson juvenile center crash

A Johnson County man has been sentenced to three years in prison and one year of work release for crashing his truck into the Johnson County Juvenile Justice Center.

Jacob Dhondt pleaded guilty to Criminal Mischief and Criminal Recklessness for the Mother’s Day 2025 attack. Dhondt, who spray-painted “fathers matter” on his vehicle, claimed he crashed to protest a custody ruling.

Special Judge David Riggins called the act an “attack on the judiciary,” while prosecutors noted the incident could have easily turned fatal.
