Edinburgh garage damaged in Friday fire

A fire seriously damaged a garage in Edinburgh Friday.

According to the Edinburgh Police Department, emergency workers were called to a residential fire in the 1000 block of East Center Cross Street Friday. When they arrived, they found a detached garage on fire with heavy smoke.

The Edinburgh Fire Department was able to put the fire out in about 20 minutes after arriving on scene.

Also assisting at the scene were the Franklin Fire Department and the German Township, Trafalgar, Amity and Nineveh Fire Departments.

Police Chief Doyne Little Jr praised the firefighters for acting quickly in the extreme cold and snow to get the fire under control and limit the amount of property damage.

No one was injured. And the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
