Edinburgh police dog receives protective vest

The Edinburgh Police Department’s police dog Batu has received a bulletproof and stab protecting vest courtesy of a not for profit group.

The not-for-profit Vested Interest in K9s group from Massachusetts provides the vests to dogs working in police and other agencies. The program is open to U.S. dogs at least 20 months old and actively employed and certified with law enforcement or related agencies.

According to the department, Batu’s vest is embroidered with the sentiment “In honor of K9 Ron.”

The group has provided more than 6,300 vests to K9s in all 50 states. The organization accepts donations and $1,050 will sponsor one vest.
