Flood warnings in effect due to runoff; East Fork at Seymour to flood this afternoon

Flood warnings are in effect for parts of our area including parts of Jackson, Brown and Jennings counties.

According to the National Weather Service, up to 3 inches of rain have fallen across the area and storms bringing another 1.5 were possible this morning. Runoff from that water is leading to flooding of low-lying areas.

Forecasters warn that flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other flood prone areas are occurring.

Additionally, a flood warning goes into effect for East Fork White River at Seymour this afternoon. The river is expected to rise to minor flood level by this afternoon and to crest at about a foot above the minor flood level by Friday morning. The river should fall back below flood level by Friday evening.
